ABOUT DR. JIN PET ESSENTIALS

What is Dr. Jin Pet Essentials?

Dr. Jin Pet Essentials is a British Columbia-based Canadian pet wellness brand offering supplements, meal toppers and grooming products for dogs and cats. The range includes products for joint mobility, digestion, immune health, skin and coat care, calmness and everyday mealtime support. The company also has operations in California, and distributes in the United States.

What makes Dr. Jin Pet Essentials different?

Dr. Jin products are designed around clearly defined wellness goals and practical daily formats, including soft chews, powders, liquids, oils and shampoo. Formulas list their key ingredients and amounts, provide species- and weight-specific directions, and display a Health Canada Notification Number when the product is sold as a Veterinary Health Product in Canada.

Are Dr. Jin formulas science-based?

Dr. Jin formulas are developed using nutritional science and pet-wellness formulation principles. Ingredients are selected for a defined role, such as glucosamine and chondroitin for joint structure, EPA and DHA for skin and coat health, or probiotics and prebiotics for digestive support. Individual results vary, and supplements do not replace veterinary diagnosis or treatment.

Where are Dr. Jin products made?

Headquartered in British Columbia, Canada, Dr. Jin Pet Essentials formulate all its products and manufacture in its partner’s HACCP- and GMP-certified facilities. Please check the individual product page and package label for the most current information.

How does Dr. Jin approach product quality?

We customize quality controls for every product and manufacturing partner to maintain elite North American standards. For a total peace of mind, every single batch is independently tested by a third-party lab in Canada or the US to ensure top-tier quality and safety. For current batch-specific testing or certificate-of-analysis information, contact info@drjinpet.com with the product name and lot number.

What is a Veterinary Health Product, or VHP?

In Canada, a Veterinary Health Product, or VHP, is a low-risk product in dosage form used to maintain or promote animal health and wellness. A VHP is not intended to treat, prevent or cure disease. Products sold as VHPs must follow Health Canada’s notification, ingredient, labelling and post-market requirements.

What does the Health Canada Notification Number on a Dr. Jin product mean?

A Notification Number beginning with “NN” identifies a Veterinary Health Product that has been notified to Health Canada under the VHP program. It should be described as Health Canada notified, not as a prescription drug or as “Health Canada approved.” The product label remains the authoritative source for its permitted use, directions and cautions.

Are Dr. Jin supplements medications?

No. Dr. Jin supplements and Veterinary Health Products are intended to support or maintain health and wellness; they are not a substitute for medication or veterinary care. Do not stop or change a prescribed treatment because you have started a supplement unless your veterinarian tells you to do so.

Are Dr. Jin products for human use?

No. Dr. Jin pet products are formulated and labelled for animals. Even when a product draws on experience from human nutritional products or uses ingredients also found in human foods, it should not be taken by people. Follow the “for animal use only” or “not for human consumption” statement on the label.

CHOOSING AND USING DR. JIN’S PRODUCTS

Which Dr. Jin products can be used for both dogs and cats?

The current Wild Salmon Oil and Digestive Support Liquid are labelled for both dogs and cats. The Hip & Joint Chews, Immune Support Chews, Probiotic Chews, Royal Pom Pumpkin Formula, Royal Pom Calming Chews, Beef Bone Broth Powder and Oatmeal & Aloe Shampoo are labelled for dogs. Never assume a dog product is appropriate for a cat; check the species statement on the label every time.

Which Dr. Jin digestive product should I choose for my pet?

Choose by species, format and wellness goal. Probiotic Chews + Digestive Enzymes provide broad daily digestive support for dogs in a chew. Digestive Support Liquid offers a measured liquid format for dogs and cats. Royal Pom Premium Pumpkin Formula is a dog-only powder focused on stool quality, regularity, prebiotic fibre and probiotics. Your veterinarian can help if your pet has ongoing digestive symptoms or a diagnosed condition.

Are Dr. Jin products suitable for small dogs and senior pets?

Many Dr. Jin products use weight-based serving directions, making them practical for small dogs, and several formulas address concerns common in older pets. Age alone does not determine whether a product is appropriate, however. Review the product’s species, life-stage directions and cautions, especially for immature animals or pets with medical conditions.

Can puppies or kittens use Dr. Jin supplements?

Use a product in a puppy or kitten only when its label permits that life stage or your veterinarian recommends it. Young animals have different nutritional needs, and some product labels caution against use in immature animals. Always check the product label before use and never estimate a dose from an adult pet’s serving.

Can pregnant, nursing or breeding animals use Dr. Jin products?

Check the specific label and speak with your veterinarian first. Several Dr. Jin products are not recommended for pregnant, lactating or breeding animals unless directed by a veterinarian. A general statement elsewhere on the website should never override the caution on the package.

Can my pet take a Dr. Jin supplement with medication?

Ask your veterinarian or pharmacist who knows your pet’s medication list. Some Dr. Jin digestive products must be given two hours before or after other oral drugs because absorption may be delayed, and the Royal Pom Calming Chews have additional medication cautions. Keep a list of every food, supplement and medication your pet receives.

Can I give my pet more than one Dr. Jin product at the same time?

Sometimes, but first compare the active ingredients. Several Dr. Jin products contain overlapping probiotics, prebiotics, omega-3s, turmeric or other ingredients. Introduce one product at a time, follow each label and avoid doubling similar ingredients. Ask your veterinarian to review the combined routine if your pet takes medication, has a medical condition or follows a therapeutic diet.

How should I introduce a new pet supplement?

Unless the label says otherwise, begin gradually and monitor appetite, stool quality, skin and behaviour. Several Dr. Jin products specifically suggest starting with half the recommended serving before increasing to the full amount. Introduce only one new product at a time so you can identify how your pet responds.

How long do pet supplements take to work?

There is no single timeline. Digestive or stool changes may be noticed sooner, while joint, skin and coat support may require several weeks of consistent use. Calming support can also vary by the pet and the situation. Follow the label, track meaningful changes and contact your veterinarian if symptoms worsen or do not improve.

Should Dr. Jin supplements be given with food?

Follow the individual label. Probiotic Chews are directed to be given with food; powders, salmon oil and bone broth are designed to mix with food; and some chews may be given directly or with a meal. Food may also make a new supplement easier for a pet to accept.

What should I do if I miss a serving?

Resume the normal label-directed schedule with the next serving. Do not double the amount to make up for a missed serving. If a time-sensitive product or prescription medication is involved, ask your veterinarian for advice.

What if my dog will not eat a soft chew?

Try offering it with a regular meal or crumbling it over food if the product label allows. Introduce it in a small portion of food first so you know the full serving was eaten. Do not hide it in foods containing xylitol or other ingredients that are unsafe for pets.

What should I do if my pet eats too much of a supplement?

Contact your veterinarian or an animal poison-control service promptly, especially if a pet consumes a large amount, the packaging, or a product not intended for its species. Keep the container and lot number available. Do not induce vomiting unless a veterinary professional tells you to do so.

What should I do if my pet has an unexpected reaction?

Stop the new product and contact your veterinarian. Seek urgent care for facial swelling, hives, repeated vomiting, collapse, marked weakness or trouble breathing. For a product-quality concern, keep the package and lot number and contact Dr. Jin at info@drjinpet.com.

Can supplements replace complete and balanced pet food?

No. Dr. Jin supplements and meal toppers are additions to a pet’s regular diet, not complete meals. The Beef Bone Broth Powder is a complementary topper and broth mix. If you feed a homemade diet, work with a veterinarian or board-certified veterinary nutritionist to ensure it is nutritionally complete.

What if my pet has food allergies or follows a special diet?

Read the full ingredient list, including non-medicinal ingredients and flavours. Some formulas contain chicken flavour, fish or shellfish ingredients, colostrum, green-lipped mussel, krill oil or eggshell membrane. Pets on sodium-, fat-, protein- or calorie-restricted diets should use toppers and oils only with veterinary guidance.

How should Dr. Jin products be stored?

Follow the package label. Most current Dr. Jin powders and chews are stored tightly closed in a cool, dry place, while Wild Salmon Oil should be kept away from light. Protect products from heat, humidity and direct sunlight, close the container after every use and keep all products out of reach of children and animals.

Where can I find the expiry date and lot number?

Check the jar, bottle or outer package. The production or best-before date and lot number may be printed on the base, label or package seal. Do not use a product after its expiry date, if the safety seal is broken, or if the lot information is missing or unreadable; contact Dr. Jin for help.

Is a small difference in colour, aroma or texture normal?

Natural and animal-derived ingredients can show modest batch-to-batch variation. A slight colour or aroma difference does not automatically mean the product is defective. Stop using it and contact Dr. Jin if you notice mould, a damaged seal, leaking, unusual separation that does not resolve as directed, or a sharply rancid or otherwise abnormal odour.
