This review is for the Dr. Jin Hip & Joint Support Beef Collagen Powder for Senior Dogs' Mobility Health.
I have a large dog that is starting to get on in years and as much as I can't really tell this product is helping, I'd like to think it is. I have used other products from Dr. Jin and find it is a reputable brand. Being manufactured in Canada also gives me a sense of comfort and I trust the ingredients. It came safety sealed and also shrink wrapped in a plastic wrapper.
My dog Max, does not have any issue consuming it and it is easy to dispense either on top of or mixed in with his food.
Getting glucosamine into my senior guy has always been a bit of a struggle, so the fact that he actually likes this powder is a big plus. It mixes easily into his food and, most importantly, he’ll eat it without any fuss.
The formula combines glucosamine and chondroitin with turmeric, hydrolyzed collagen and beef protein. I also appreciate the detailed labelling, including the ingredient amounts, weight-based dosing, cautions, manufacturing and expiry information.
I’ve used other Dr. Jin products and have had good experiences with the brand. They’re a Canadian company with good product transparency and clear contact information, which gives me more confidence when choosing supplements for my senior dog.
Overall, this is an easy and palatable way for me to add joint support to his diet. No complaints, and if the price makes sense for your budget, I’d definitely recommend it.
This beef collagen powder is made to support hip and joint function in senior dogs and can be mixed with regular food so the dog can take it as part of a daily meal without needing pills or chews. The main ingredient is beef collagen which is a source of protein building blocks that take part in the structure of cartilage tendons and ligaments and the idea is that steady use may help the body maintain these tissues so movement like standing walking or climbing steps can stay more easy and steady for an older dog. It is presented as a general support product for joint comfort and range of motion rather than a treatment for a single clear joint disease so the user still needs to watch the dog for signs of pain or stiffness that may need a vet visit.
Along with collagen the powder includes glucosamine and chondroitin which are common joint support nutrients that are often used together in senior dog care since they are linked with cartilage maintenance and fluid balance in the joint space and many owners choose them to help with normal age related wear. Turmeric is also part of the blend and is used because it contains natural compounds that are associated with calming normal inflammation in body tissues which can be helpful when joints are under regular daily stress from weight or repeated movement though the exact change the owner sees can differ from dog to dog. The label notes that the product is formulated by Dr Jin which is meant to show that the recipe was planned by a person with formal training though the user still needs to check with their own vet especially if the dog takes other medicine has allergies or has a health condition like liver or kidney disease.
The powder form lets the owner adjust the amount based on weight by using a scoop so a small dog and a large dog in the same house can both use it with different serving sizes and the taste of beef can make it easier to hide in wet food or a soft homemade mix for picky eaters. For best effect the user needs to give it on a regular schedule for weeks rather than only now and then since joint support supplements tend to act slowly as part of daily nutrition and missing many servings may limit the change in comfort the dog feels. Even if the dog seems to walk more freely after starting the powder it does not replace professional care for clear joint problems so ongoing limping sudden changes in movement or signs like reluctance to jump or whine when touched should still lead to an exam with a vet who can decide if imaging medicine weight control or other steps are needed in addition to this product.
As dogs get older, joint and mobility support becomes something I pay a lot more attention to, so I like the combination of ingredients in this powder. Having beef collagen along with glucosamine, chondroitin, and turmeric makes this feel more thoughtfully formulated than a basic single-ingredient supplement.
The powder format is also a big plus for me. I’d much rather mix something into food than try to convince a dog to swallow another tablet or capsule. It’s an easy addition to a normal routine and doesn’t require much extra effort.
I also like that it’s specifically formulated with senior dogs in mind. Mobility is one of those things where consistency matters, so having something that can be incorporated into their daily routine makes more sense to me than something complicated that’s difficult to keep up with.
The ingredient combination is what really sold me on this one. Collagen, glucosamine, and chondroitin are all commonly used in joint-support products, while turmeric is a nice additional ingredient. Overall, it’s a convenient powder with a well-rounded formula for anyone looking to add some extra joint and mobility support to an older dog’s routine.
I’ve purchased several products from Dr. Jin Pet Essentials and have been really happy with the ingredients in all of them. This beef collagen powder is another great addition. My dog loves the taste and has no problem eating it mixed into his food.
I like that it contains beef collagen along with glucosamine, chondroitin and turmeric, without a long list of unnecessary ingredients. The powder is also easy to measure and mix into his meals. It’s reassuring to find a brand that consistently uses good-quality ingredients and products that my dog actually enjoys.
I’ve tried several Dr. Jin products and have had a good experience with them, and this one has been another nice addition. I especially like that it comes as a powder because it’s incredibly easy to sprinkle right over my dog’s regular food.
She seems to really enjoy the taste and happily eats her food with it mixed in every night. The included scoop also makes it simple to portion out without making a mess. I appreciate having an easy way to add some extra joint support to her normal routine.
Overall Easy to use, convenient, and something my dog actually enjoys eating.
This beef collagen powder is a convenient option for adding a supplement to a senior dog’s daily routine.
The powder format is useful because it can be mixed into food rather than requiring a dog to swallow a tablet or capsule. That can be especially helpful for older dogs who are becoming more selective about what they eat.
The product is intended to support hip and joint health and mobility, which are common concerns as dogs age. I like that it is specifically marketed toward senior dogs rather than being a one-size-fits-all supplement.
As with any pet supplement, results can vary, and it is important to follow the serving instructions based on the dog’s size. I would also check with a veterinarian before introducing a new supplement, particularly if the dog has existing medical conditions or takes medication.
Overall, this is a convenient powder-style supplement for owners looking to support their senior dog’s mobility as part of a broader care routine.
My dog loves this powder, it's a tasty topper for his food. If you add a bit of water it makes a bit of gravy. I use a lot of Dr Jin products, they're always high quality. This powder works well to support joint health and is easy to digest. It hasn't bothered my dog's sensitive stomach at all, no negative side effects. It is reasonably priced and a good value.
This is my third Dr. Jin product. I have tried its salmon oil as well as the pumpkin powder. I found both to be of good quality and formulation. We feed our pup only homemade meals using human grade meat. She eats homemade dehydrated liver for treats. We add salmon oil to her meals, and we alternate between green-lipped mussel, pumpkin, mushroom powder in addition to the oil. We work hard to enhance her diet to optimize her health so she can enjoy her vitality for years to come.
The pup is a 60-lb doodle and we are keeping a very close eye on her joint health. She loves to walk, run and swim. Given her size, we don't want her joints to wear out prematurely.
Positive attributes:
+ Dr. Jin is a Canadian company
+ The product is formulated and designed here
+ The product is made in China, but it is manufactured in a cGMP compliant facility, and the manufacturing process follows HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) guidelines. to identify, evaluate, and control biological, chemical, and physical hazards in food production.
+ No common allergens
+ Very reasonable expiration period - 2 years
+ Contains glucosamine,, turmeric, collagen and more.
+ Third-party tested
The dog eats her meals as always when mixed with this powder. We find this powder to be very convenient since it contains so many supplements that promote joint health. And the price point is very budge friendly.
I purchased this a couple of weeks ago, and overall, I am quite happy with the results so far. The ingredient profile is exactly what I was looking for—having glucosamine, chondroitin, turmeric, and collagen all combined in a single supplement is very convenient and saves me from buying multiple products.
The biggest positive is the taste. It uses a beef protein base, and my dog absolutely loves it. It is also a fantastic alternative if your dog has poultry allergies, which can be surprisingly difficult to avoid with other joint chews. I have already started to notice a slight improvement in my dog's morning stiffness and a bit more ease when getting up.
However, there are a couple of drawbacks to be aware of. First, because it is a fine dry powder, you cannot simply sprinkle it over dry kibble—it tends to settle at the bottom of the bowl and can make your dog sneeze if they sniff too closely. You definitely need to mix it with a little warm water to create a gravy or stir it thoroughly into wet food. Second, the cost-effectiveness heavily depends on your dog's size. At 300g, it will last a long time for a smaller dog, but if you have a large breed over 50 lbs that requires the full three scoops a day, you will go through the tub in about 20 days.
Overall, it is a high-quality, effective product that delivers on its promises, provided you don't mind taking an extra minute to mix it into their meals properly.
The container is almost imposible to open. Even when piercing holes in the top with scissors, even than it is very hard to remove the sealed top. Once removed tho, only the screw top goes back on.
I was expecting chews but it comes in a form of powder. Only a scoop is needed and to my surprise the dog even licks it up from the bottom of her bowl on its own with no issue. Its like a treat in powder form. She does like a sip of water afterwards tho.
Its hard to say if it does any changes in my dog since I havent been using it for long but it cant be bad, all good ingredients to support healthy bones and joints.
I received this through the Amazon Vine program and was interested in trying it because I liked the combination of collagen, glucosamine, chondroitin, and turmeric. The powder is easy to scoop and add to food, and the beef flavor makes it a nice option for dogs that can be picky about supplements. I also like that it contains hydrolyzed collagen along with the other joint-support ingredients, rather than being just a single-ingredient supplement.
The container is a good size, the instructions are easy to follow, and the powder format makes it much more convenient than trying to give a dog another tablet or chew. I appreciate that it’s specifically formulated with hip and joint support in mind, especially for older dogs. Overall, I really like the ingredient combination and how simple it is to add to food. It’s a product I’d be happy to keep on hand for my dog and would definitely recommend to other pet owners looking for a joint support supplement.
This is a great hip and joint supplement. I really like that they've included glucosamine HCL, and chondroitin together along with turmeric and collagen. I feel like the only thing the formula is missing is something called MSM and glucosamine sulfate, which I can add myself separately if I choose. I'm going to try this on its own for the duration of the container though and see if it's necessary to add the other two, in that case, I might just alternate months with an MSM product. I really like everything about this companies image, proper labeling and information provided. My dogs have enjoyed every single treat and powder product and this one is no different. I scoop it onto their food in the morning, in a generous way, and they haven't missed a beat yet. Other times I've switched over to joint care supplements and they start to walk with a stagger but this seems great.
My dog is allergic to chicken and many supplement that contains chicken liver or with hidden chicken as an ingredient. It is incredibly tricky to find one that he is not allergic with. This is a great alternative for those dogs who needs a chicken free ingredients, my dog had this supplement for a few days now and he got no allergic reaction. It is formulated with Beef proteins rather than Poultry.
My Poodle is 10 year old and started to have some arthritis and joint struggle. He can walk but he struggle to get up the steps comfortably. I noticeable some improvement in his mobility after trying on the Dr Jin formula for 2 weeks. His stiffness of his hip definitely improved as he is getting up the step a bit quicker than usual. and also he is more active in moving around the house rather than sleeping on his bed all the time.
Overall. I am satisfied with the product.I can't wait to see more great result. Thank You Dr Jin for such a good product.
I've used a few of Dr. Jin's products now and they have all been great. The biggest test in my house, though, is whether the dogs actually like them, and both of mine love these add-ins to their food. With this collagen powder, I mix it with a little bit of water to make a beef slurry and drizzle it over their food. They absolutely LOVE it and now seem to look forward to me adding it to their meals. It's an easy way to add the powder to their diet without having to convince them to eat it. As a dry powder, they don't seem to like it all that much, but if it is a gravy-like mixture, they are really into it! I'm happy with the quality of Dr. Jin's products so far, and having something my dogs actually get excited about makes this one an easy addition to their meals.
